1976 BMW 2002 2.0 I4

This 1976 BMW 2002 was built in February 1976 and is finished in Mint Green over a tan interior, it features a Weber carburetor conversion, a Blaupunkt radio, and a roof rack.

Rebuilds of its 2.0-liter inline-four and four-speed manual transmission were carried out in 2008 and 2009, and additional work since included replacement of the headliner, windshield, upholstery, shocks, ignition components, and front brakes.

The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four was factory rated at 96 horsepower and 106 lb-ft of torque, and is fed by a replacement Weber carburetor under a factory-style air cleaner.

A rebuild carried out by DynoTes of Danville in June 2009 included fitting first-oversize pistons as well as replacement of the main and connecting rod bearings, rocker arms and shafts, timing chain, and oil pump.

A tune-up was performed and the ignition coil replaced in October 2012.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission that was rebuilt in March 2008.

The car is finished in Mintgrun (079) and features aluminum impact bumpers, square taillights, fog lights, and a period-style roof rack.

A replacement windshield was fitted in 2008.

Painted 13″ steel wheels wear 185/70-13 Toyo Extensa A/S tires.

Bilstein shocks were fitted at all four corners, at which time the front brake pads and rotors were also replaced.

A new headliner was fitted in 2008, and the seats were reupholstered in tan vinyl and beige cloth over replacement horsehair cushion inserts in 2010.

Amenities include a rear defroster and Blaupunkt push-button AM/FM radio.

A four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO crosshair gauges including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, and a five-digit odometer that shows 52k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
