A refurbishment carried out over the subsequent two years in the San Francisco area included a rebuild of its 1.6-liter Super flat-four, a repaint in red, and interior refreshment using tan upholstery.

The 1.6-liter 616/2 flat-four is stamped *87313* and was rebuilt by Zuffenhausen Auto with a line-bored case, additional machine work, and a valve job.

Twin Weber carburetors are topped by aftermarket air cleaners.

The electrical system has been converted to 12 volts.

A 2017 service included adjustment of the brakes, clutch, and other linkages, while a transaxle gasket was replaced and an Optima battery installed in April 2021.

The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its current red by Ideal Auto Rebuilders after panel repairs were carried out as needed.

Brightwork was replaced, and a new windshield was installed along with various body seals.

Yellow fog lights are mounted under the front bumper.

The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Porsche crest horn button frames green-lettered VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 120-mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer showing 12k miles.
