1957 Chevrolet Cameo V8 Pickup Truck
Description
The truck is finished in red over a red interior and is powered by a replacement 327ci V8 paired with a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission.
The rebuilt 327ci V8 was sourced from a 1966 Corvette and installed during the build in the 1980s. A chrome air cleaner housing and script valve covers are installed.
An oil change was performed in December 2022.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed TH400 automatic transmission and a rear axle that have been sourced from a 1969 Camaro.
Cameo truck models were equipped with molded fiberglass outer bedsides and outer tailgate skins.
This example was refinished in red and ivory in the late 1980s.
Additional work included refurbishing the trim and brightwork and installing a wood-lined bed with polished stainless hardware.
Aftermarket 15″ Rally-style steel wheels wear faux knock-off spinners are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GA tires.
The suspension and brakes have been overhauled during the 1980s refurbishment work.
The interior was refurbished during the build and features a bench seat trimmed in red patterned cloth with white accents.
The cabin’s metal surfaces are painted in red and white, and equipment includes dual sun visors, a cabin heater, and a later Impala-style steering wheel.
Instrumentation includes a horizontal-sweep 100-mph speedometer and a five-digit odometer that shows just over 45k miles.
