1950 Mercury Coupe Custom Ford V8
Description
This 1950 Mercury coupe was modified in the early 2000s with a chopped roof, frenched lights, shaved doors, air suspension, and a repaint in satin black with a flame job extending from the front end to the rear quarter panels.
Power comes from a 302ci Ford V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and the black interior features a custom console as well as an aftermarket sound system and digital gauges.
The 302ci Ford V8 is equipped with a four-barrel carburetor on a polished-aluminum intake manifold, an Oldsmobile air cleaner with a matching flame job, ceramic-coated exhaust headers, a mini high-torque starter, and a Mallory distributor.
The firewall has been filled and smoothed, and a custom oil pan have been fitted.
The roofline was chopped 5″ with reworked pillars and windows, while other body modifications include shaved door handles and badges as well as a frenched antenna, headlights, and blue-dot taillights.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed C4 automatic transmission and a 9″ rear end with a 2.50:1 final drive ratio.
Remaining brightwork consists of a shortened grille in addition to smoothed front and rear bumpers.
The exterior was refinished in satin black with yellow and orange flames outlined in blue pinstripes.
Red steel wheels wear chrome smoothie covers and whitewall tires.
The chassis was C-notched and fitted with a Plymouth Volare front end, and adjustable airbag suspension is featured front and rear.
The power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes feature a vacuum booster and a dual-reservoir master cylinder.
