This 1968 Mercury Cougar XR-7 is finished in Nordic Blue with a white vinyl roof over blue leather upholstery, and its X-code 390ci V8 is paired with a three-speed C-6 automatic transmission.
The X-code 390ci V8 was rated for 280 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque when new.
A four-barrel carburetor and a mid-rise intake manifold were installed.
Service has consisted of rebuilding the carburetor, recoring the FoMoCo-branded radiator, and replacing the fuel pump as well as the vacuum hoses.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a three-speed C-6 Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission and a 9″ rear axle.
The car was delivered new in Nordic Blue (D) with a Parchment vinyl roof and tinted glass.
The body has been refinished, and features include vacuum-operated headlight covers, mechanically operated sequential taillights, chrome-finished bumpers, “6.5 Litre” badging, and dual exhaust that terminate below the rear valance.
The 14″ wheels have been sourced from a 1968 Mustang GT and wear beauty rings as well as GT-branded hubcaps.
They are mounted with 225/70 BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires.
Equipment includes power steering and power brakes, with discs utilized up front.
The car received bucket seats and a rear bench with Dark Blue Leather upholstery (6B) as well as a Whisperaire air-conditioning system from the factory.
An AM radio is mounted above a clock in the center stack, and the eight-track unit has been serviced.
A two-spoke steering wheel rim and pad have been refurbished and sits ahead of a blue dashboard with woodgrain trim.
Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and three auxiliary gauges.
The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles and has rolled over.
