This 1966 Ford Mustang fastback was overhauled with a repaint in red, a refreshed black interior, and the installation of a carbureted 5.0-liter V8 sourced from a 1989 Mustang.
The 5.0-liter V8 was sourced from a 1989 Mustang and is dressed in the style of a HiPo 289ci engine.
Equipment includes a Holley carburetor with a chrome air cleaner housing, cast-iron exhaust manifolds, a 2.25″ exhaust system with a crossover pipe and stainless-steel mufflers.
The valve springs were replaced in 2016, the engine and transmission were removed and reinstalled following detailing in 2017, at which time the camshaft was replaced.
The engine bay also features a Monte Carlo bar, a factory-style radiator, and a FoMoCo-branded windshield-washer bag.
A Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission has been installed along with a 9″ rear axle from a 1978 Lincoln, which was fitted with a 3.50:1 limited-slip differential in 2017.
The underside was stripped for refinishing in 2016.
The car was refinished in red approximately three decades ago, and in 2017 the tops of the quarter panels were touched up and the brightwork was refreshed.
Work in 2016 included replacing various exterior bulbs and repairing sections of the wiring harness.
Equipment includes chrome bumpers, rocker trim, fender badges, louvered quarter vents, and dual exhaust tips that extend through the rear valance.
Chrome styled steel wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires with raised white letters.
Each corner is equipped with disc brakes, and the system utilizes a dual-reservoir master cylinder as well as an adjustable proportioning valve.
Suspension modifications include 1″ front lowering springs, 1″ rear lowering blocks, and a 1.0625″ front sway bar.
The brakes were serviced and suspension components were media blasted and powder-coated in 2017.
The interior features front bucket seats and a folding rear bench upholstered in black vinyl with a matching dashboard, door panels, and carpeting.
A Ford-branded AM/FM radio is mounted in the center of the dash, and an air-conditioning unit is located below the dash.
The headliner was replaced in 2021.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer and four auxiliary gauges as well as a Rally Pac gauge pod on the steering column with a 6k-rpm tachometer and an analog clock.
